About the Maker

 

In 2015, after leaving her job in a family business, Rachel was encouraged by her then fiancé to do something creative, so she decided to take a bag making class at a local sewing studio. 

Soon after that class, Rachel started making and selling her handmade zip pouches on Facebook to her friends. Those friends became her best customers, so she named her new little business, "ami" meaning friend in French.

Other than a few sewing classes, Rachel is a self-taught bag maker. Her bags can be found in several gift shops in Santa Fe and Albuquerque, NM. She works fulltime as a bagmaker in her home studio. She lives with her husband, and their three dogs and two cats. When she's not making bags, she can be found riding her road bike with her husband or running in the foothills of Albuquerque.
